The Time Traveler's Wife Review

So I just watched "The Time Traveler's Wife" starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. I have to say that Rachel is one of my favorite actresses so I expected a great performance from her but Eric did an amazing job as well.

Obviously it is a chick flick BUT because of the time travel a guy may be willing to sit through it. Anyways it was a really good movie but I'm kind of torn about the way it all played out. It seemed like it went by fast, but maybe that's the point with the time travel and all. This movie shows true, unconditional love. And time cannot erase feelings that strong between Clare and Henry. (Rachel and Eric) The scenery is beautiful! Especially in the meadow where Henry meets Clare for the first time. Absolutely beautiful.

Overall I'd definately recommend this movie. If you liked "The Notebook" I'm almost positive you'll like "The Time Traveler's Wife." But bring some tissues, because more than likely you'll need them.

Natalie

Anybody know whatever happened to Natalie who sang "Going Crazy" in like 2005? I love her voice and her whole CD but haven't heard anything from her recently. Below are a couple of her songs that I like the most:

Going Crazy

I love "Going Crazy" such a cute song && video.

Sick - Shel Silverstein

Sick - Shel Silverstein

"I cannot go to school today,"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more--that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut--my eyes are blue--
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke--
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is--what?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is. . .Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play!"

Isn't this cute? You can find it in Shel's book "Where The Sidewalk Ends" as well as tons of other great poems.

Tragedy at Sea World

So just recently during a killer whale show, which in itself sounds bad, a Sea World trainer was killed by a whale. First of all it's so sad because ever since she, the trainer, was a little girl she said that this was what she wanted to do. And for the whale she had been working with for some time to snap like that is tragic. That whale had killed people before though. There was a case when a person snuck into Sea World and they found the person dead on top of the whale. Why was the whale still in the show and so close with people when he has killed before?! I don't understand. What I do understand is that it was probably only following it's own instincts because after all it is a "killer" whale. I'm kind of torn about what I think they should do with the whale now. I know they aren't going to kill it which I do think is fair because he was only doing what his kind do. But should they release it back into the wild? Or would it die because it's been a different setting for so long? I mean I'd assume if it can still kill a person, awful to even say, it could kill some krill or whatever kind of fish they eat. It's a sticky situation. I'm an animal lover but some animals are not meant to be domesticated or even in shows for that matter! BUT I read that they aren't secluding him from the other whales because he fathered some and so he can still mate with other whales. And that he'll still be in shows but they are going to review the ways they work with him. I don't know. Doesn't seem like such a good idea to me. I guess we'll see what happens && just hope he doesn't kill again.

EDIT: I just found out that it was not the whale's fault! The trainers ponytail got into the water and the whale was intrigued by it and was really just playing with her. Too roughly but it was the trainer's error and not the whale's fault. I feel bad now :( but people need to be more careful with certain animals.

OMG Shoes!

This video came out a few years ago and I haven't watched it in awhile. But it's soo funny! And if you ever hear anyone say or see anyone type "betch" instead of "b*tch" this is more than likely where they got it from :)

LOL "Those shoes are mine betch!"

Please && Thank you!

Lately I've been wondering, does anyone have manners anymore? Like seriously how hard is it to be polite? If you want something say please. If someone does something nice for you say thank you.
It's the right thing to do. If someone's a few steps behind you, hold the door until they get there [ unless you're really in a rush, you know there's exceptions to every rule ] && if someone holds the door for you say thank you! Or even just give them a thank you smile. Be kind to everyone because you never know what someone else may be going through. They could be smiling on the outside and be miserable on the inside. Your "please" or "thank you" or even a simple compliment may make their day. You just honestly never know. Karma is always working. Eventually what you do will come back to you. Good or bad. Wouldn't you rather it be good?

Quiet Girl - Langston Hughes

In honor of Black History Month I picked out a poem by Langston Hughes [ 1902-1967 ] to share:

Quiet Girl by Langston Hughes
I would liken you
To a night without stars
Were it not for your eyes.
I would liken you
To a sleep without dreams
Were it not for your songs.

I picked this one because it was short but sweet. The title caught my attention like what is he going to say about a quiet girl? And I liked it, simple as that.

Music Monday . . On Tuesday

Jersey Shore "Guidettes"

While I was watching Jersey Shore I noticed Jwoww didn't look as Italian as the rest of the cast but I never really paid too much attention to it, because hey different people have different looks. But I JUST learned this morning she's not even Italian at all! She's Spanish and Irish. What kind of Spanish I'm not sure. She addressed the issue on her twitter saying that being a "Guidette" is a lifestyle not a race/ethnicity. Snooki on the other hand looks like a full blood Italian right? Well it turns out she's half Italian and half Chilean [ which is also Spanish for those that didn't know ] I didn't know this while she was on the show but learned it from a radio interview she had. But I read on a bunch of websites saying that she's all Chilean. Not true she's only HALF! Either way everybody loves Snooki :) && I can't wait for the second season of Jersey Shore.

Still I Rise - Maya Angelou

In honor of Black History Month here is a poem by the great African American writer Maya Angelou. Enjoy.

Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Everlasting by Stacy-Deanne

In this day and age there are so many different genre's of books that there is something for everyone. You've all heard of Romeo and Juliet right? Well Everlasting by Stacy-Deanne is a modern day version of that classic story. It is about two teens from New York named Nina and Juan. The two fall in love but face a lot of obstacles since their family members are apart of rival gangs. This book is definitely a page turner full of lots of twists and turns. Everlasting is in my opinion, one of the best romance novels for teens and young adults. It makes you believe in that saying "Love Conquers All." Don't take my word for it, go to a library or bookstore near you and find out for yourself.

Love me, Love me

Rihanna's video for "Rude Boy" is SO DOPE. I love love love the colors and concept of the video. It's so creative && I haven't seen a video like this in awhile. Props to Ri-Ri for that. She looks gorgeous of course. I like how she incorporates animals and animal print into the video too. Very cool. Check it out below --

For The "Love" Of Ray J . . ?

The reunion for For The Love Of Ray J Season 2 was last night. And not gonna lie, I watched. There was drama with the girls which is to be expected but what was kinda shocking is when they had Jaguar come up and talk with the host, who I have no clue who she was, and Ray J. Jaguar revealed she still had feelings for Ray J and he reciprocated and said that he still liked her ALOT and wishes he hadn't sent her home so soon. Which is all great and dandy but he already picked his "love" Mz Berry. Well it turns out that Mz Berry hadn't seen him for 5 months since they wrapped filming the show. Which is pretty ridiculous seeing as how he has private jets and the means to go see her and fly her out. To make matters worse, or more interesting, however you wanna look at it, Cocktail from season 1 was there to give Mz Berry "advice". She told her that Ray flew her out the next week after filming was done. And Mz Berry hasn't seen him in 5 months?! What kind of "love" is that? Other contestants had even seen him since they finished filming. Even Cocktail had seen him when Mz Berry didn't. Cocktail was pretty much warning Mz Berry that Ray isn't a one woman man. And I think she deserves respect for that because like she said to Ray she wished someone had been there to warn her about him. It ended up being more about Cocktail and Ray going back and forth about how she and him were supposed to be cool and why is she doing him like that. She kept repeating over&over how Ray always said to her "I ain't on that Hollywood sh*t, I ain't on that Hollywood sh*t." pretty much trying to prove that he "can't be tied down" if you will. Mz Berry is very classy and held her composure well. I felt so bad for her though because they didn't even really get to talk about HER AND RAY J which is what the end of the show SHOULD have been about but it wasn't. I'm not really sure if having Cocktail there was a good idea or not. Obviously it was good for ratings, because drama = higher ratings. It was entertaining if nothing else. But it was kind of sad to see how visibly upset Cocktail was about how he did her. Ray did try to turn it around and say she had girls in her room too?! Whatever that is about. He is a sweet talker. If I was around him I'd be fooled too. Or maybe he has in fact changed. But that's still no excuse not to see Mz Berry in FIVE MONTHS when you've seen other girls from the show who you didn't even pick. I guess we'll see how their "love" plays out or if there will be a season 3. Honestly wouldn't doubt it.

Just call me SUPERBAD !

Late 2009 former 3LW and Cheetah Girl, Adrienne Bailon announced she was coming out with a solo album. FINALLY. I was so excited to hear that cause she's always been my favorite of both groups. I don't think she even needed to do Cheetah Girls, she should've had a solo album right after 3LW fell apart in my opinion. I was on youtube today and stumbled upon her debut single. How I haven't heard it until now, I'm not even sure but it's hot it should be on the radio already! Go listen below!

Bleep you, Grammy's.

So almost everybody watched the Grammy's this past Sunday night right? And it's pretty much a given that one of the best performances of the night was Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Drake performing "Forever" [ Kanye was not in attendance, hmm wonder why! LOL ] It appeared that everybody's sound was going out on their TV during the performance and for no reason. It seemed like whoever was at the censoring button clearly didn't know the song because non-explicit words were being bleeped.

This is what CBS had to say "It was a rousing musical performance but words were edited from the live telecast that didn't meet our broadcast standards," said CBS spokesman Chris Ender. "We have great respect for artists' creative freedom, but there are certain things you can't say, or sing, on television."

Whatever they say, I guess. Kinda ruined the song/performance for me but they still had one of the best performances no questions asked!
